It would be nice to see a few more posts and threads from other motorhomers if only to prove that we actually exist .
We are going away this coming weekend to a great little site just outside Market Harborough (about a 1 mile walk into the town.....) so I certainly hope that the rain stops for a while because at the moment it is tipping down in Kettering.....
Looking forward to seeing some posts here when I get back

Hi Keith,

I hope you have enjoyed many trips since this one. We have spent the year as usual checking town centres where motorhomes can park to keep adding to our web site. In advance of the trips, writing to councils for parking information. It is interesting to note that we are much more welcome than we were three years ago. I have just received an excellent response from Cornwall with all the councils offering support.

I know that many of our colleagues do not take their vans into the town centres, but if you do decide to, it makes life easy if you have information to set the tomtom and not have to search for a suitable place in busy traffic.

This year many additional locations have been found and have been added to the web site. May I take this opportunity to thank all who have helped with this venture.

Best regards,
John.

Does nobody with a motorhome really post in this forum,
I did notice that this section is a "little" quieter than the "Evening Chat" area...

I was a "tugger" more years ago than I care to remember... I had a small Fleetwood, followed by a 15" Lynton Javelin... the last caravan I owned was a Viking Fibreline about 15 years ago... 13" and weighed 2 tons, but a wonderful old van, similar to the "Cheltenham" models which I had always hankered after.
Then a period of ill health of myself, then also my late Wife curtailed activities, until I married Eirwen 5 years ago.

She fancied camping, but didn't like the idea of towing... said I drove too fast... ... so we bought an elderly Talbot Camelot campervan, which eased Ei into the camping experience, but a couple of nights away at a time has been the extent of our trips so far... Three years later, the tinworm was winning the battle, so with relatively limited rescources, we bought our present van, and I used the excellent equipment out of the Talbot to build a campervan to our own spec... permanent bed ect... this is now registered with DVLA as a "motorcaravan"

We now look forward to meeting folks and making new friends.

Alan.

Wish I had the expertise to do that, I've a lovely caravan which would make a wonderful donor for a van, but I'll just have to make do with towing it about till I can afford to buy a ready made motorcaravan again.

That last motorcaravan you had Caz was superb.....the layout was exactly the same as the Sprite we had.
I was surprised you sold it.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, Allen.
At the time it seemed like a good idea, but what I replaced it with was a disaster. So I ended up back with a caravan.

Sounds good Alan My alan started to convert a van yrs ago it was a volkswagon put in everything needed after a few years he scrapped it lol.
We love motorhoming Just waiting to pick up a Hymer traded our Elddis autostratus in.Its 9 yrs old now and we have taken it to Portugal 3 times. 12 months in all travelling so the milage is up to 55000 and there are other things neding done now.We thought we would just look for a Hymer when we got back 10 days ago so it has`nt taken us long to find what we wanted. The new one is 2 yrs older than this one but only 21000 and its a merc engine so will do us for yrs im going to have it all recovered and toffed up.Its about 4 ft shorter as well so I might drive it. Hopefully we will be away again for another 5/6 months in December.I liked the caravan still look at them but wouldnt have went away as we have in it . We dont use sites in Portugal and with the c van we would have to.

Hope you have a lot of lovely trips .....

Val

Last year I sold my Motorhome and admit I have missed it. It was a choice of investing £42K for a replacement, or £18K for a caravan and £25K for a new estate car. The caravan and car were purchased. Following this years trip to France I should be able to give a verdict!
I still manage the web site for motorhome colleagues and require side photographs of town centre car parks with motorhomes parked in the bays. If any of you can help, please email the photographs to me.
My apologies to Alan for not reading the site rules and entering my web site on the postings. This is common place on most Forums and it was not my intention to advertise (and do not have any personal gain) other than to help others. The site is in the top ten with Google. Many MH users thank us for producing the site which was the first with parking information after I changed from caravan to motorhome in 2003.
